Cybersecurity in Europe's digital future highlighted at Digital Expo

The Digital Expo, held during the Tallinn Digital Summit, has highlighted the importance of cybersecurity in Europe's efforts to realize its digital future.

Along with e-governance and 5G, cybersecurity has become a key word of the expo.

"E-governance will not work unless people have trust in e-services and digital devices. So we need to strengthen cyber security. The safety can only be achieved if we safeguard European cyber security as a whole," said Estonian Prime Minister Juri Ratas.

Many exhibitors hold similar points of view. Arne Ansper, development manager from Cybernetica, told Xinhua that people would accept the eID and e-signature gradually as their trust in digital devices was build step by step.

The manager said cyber security is a global issue and the goal of fighting against cybercrime can be better achieved through cooperation.

The EU estimated that more than 1 million people become victims of cybercrime per day and the cost of cybercrime is between 500 billion euros (591 billion U.S. dollars) and 3 trillion euros (3.5 trillion U.S. dollars) every year.

And official figures also show that about 50 percent businesses in the EU have suffered a cyber attack.
