The first case involved a 43-year-old man, who is the abbot of a Buddhist worship hall in North Point, Hong Kong Island, which has been proved to be related to multiple infections, Chuang Shuk-kwan, head of the Communicable Disease Branch of the Centre for Health Protection, said at a press conference.

The man, who has remained asymptomatic, was finally diagnosed after repeated tests on his deep-throat respiratory sample.

The other case involved a 57-year-old woman, who is the maid of two COVID-19 patients, Chuang said.

In addition, a woman, who is the wife of a diagnosed patient, was preliminarily tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

Of all confirmed cases in Hong Kong, 57 stayed in the hospital for treatment, 43 were discharged and two died.

Secretary for Food and Health Sophia Chan said Hong Kong has issued red alert for trips to South Korea, some areas of Italy, and Iran as the number of COVID-19 cases kept increasing in multiple places of the world, adding that Hong Kong residents who planned to travel there may need to consider adjusting their plans.
