KATHMANDU, Sept 9 -- President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Sunday conferred insignia on newly appointedChief of Army Staff Purna Chandra Thapa amid a special function at Sheetal Niwas, Kathmandu. Thapa, who was appointed as the acting chief of army last month will assume command of the Nepali Army from today. Newly appointed army chief Thapa will lead over 96,000-strong army for three years.
