The Biden administration is accelerating efforts to administer at least one jab of a COVID-19 vaccine to 70 percent of the US' adult population by July 4, the White House announced on Tuesday.

"Throughout the month, national organizations, local government leaders, community-based and faith-based partners, businesses, employers, social media influencers, celebrities, athletes, colleges, young people, and thousands of volunteers across the nation will work together to get their communities vaccinated," said a statement by the White House.

Some of the measures expected to be announced by President Joe Biden include free child care for individuals getting vaccinated, extended hours at pharmacies across the country in June to offer more flexible appointment availability and a National Vaccination Tour led by the Vice President to encourage more vaccinations.

By Tuesday, the US had reported 33,294,023 COVID-19 infections with 595,497 deaths, according to data from the Johns Hopkins University.
