China and Indonesia held the third meeting of their annual High-level Economic Dialogue in Beijing on Tuesday. The event, launched in 2015, was co-chaired this year by Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi and Darmin Nasution, Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs.

The third edition of the economic dialogue aims to deepen practical cooperation and foster a strategic partnership. Officials from China and Indonesia pledge to work together on a gamut of areas, including finance, agriculture, energy, as well as the burgeoning e-commerce.

China has now grown into Indonesia's third largest source of investment and the biggest source of tourists. The two sides have made steady progress in pushing forward major projects in Indonesia, including the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway, and an integrated industrial park.

The two sides have also signed a memorandum over financing on infrastructure construction.

On the same day, a ministerial level talks on economic cooperation was held at China’s ministry of Commerce. Officials from both sides agreed to advance the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road and promote Indonesia’s Global Maritime Fulcrum,

a strategy to boost its security and infrastructure.
