French Prime Minister Édouard Philippe is expected to present details of Phase Two of the country's plan to lift the COVID-19 lockdown.

Philippe will announce an ease on travel restrictions as well as a time frame for when the country's restaurant industry may be allowed to reopen after a closure that has lasted more than two months.

The Prime Minister already announced that the Paris region is no longer deemed a "Red" COVID-19 danger zone, with the risk level downgraded to an "Orange".

France is one of the world's worst affected country by the COVID-19 pandemic. The country has registered 183,038 cases and 28,599 deaths as the world continues to battle the pandemic.

The country is one of only six nations globally to have recorded more than 20,000 COVID-19-related deaths.

As it continues to ease lockdown restrictions however, learning institutions are expected to get the greenlight to reopen, as the country embarks on a plan to conduct more tests nationwide.
