China launches its second land exploration satellite

China successfully launched its Land Survey Satellite-2 via a Long March-2D rocket from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center on Saturday.

The rocket lifted off at around 12:15 p.m. in northwest China's Gansu Province.

The satellite will mainly be used for the remote sensing exploration of land resources.

The Land Survey Satellite-1 was launched on December 3.
