Portuguese Prime Minister Antonio Costa's Socialist Party (PS) is set to win Sunday's national elections with 36.7 percent of the votes, according to the official preliminary results announced by the Ministry of Internal Administration, following 97.1 percent of the parishes counted.
The main opposition party, Social Democratic Party (PSD), trailed in the second place, with 28.6 percent of votes, the results show.
In Sunday's election, 230 seats for the 14th legislature are at stake, competed by 21 political parties or alliances.
