China hopes South Korea will stick by THAAD comments

China has welcomed the statements from South Korea concerning the deployment of the controversial THAAD anti-missile system, saying it hopes the country will stick by its commitment on this issue.

South Korean Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha said on Monday that Seoul is not considering any additional deployment of the US missile defense system.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying made the remarks during a press conference on Monday, reiterating China's opposition to the deployment of the system.

Hua said China hopes that Seoul will treat the issue appropriately to ensure a sound and healthy relationship with Beijing.
