China's NetEase files secondary listing in Hong Kong

China's online gaming firm NetEase confirmed on Friday that it has won approval to be listed in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. The company was listed in the U.S in 2000.

The tech giant filed a preliminary

prospectus

with the Hong Kong Stock Exchange later on Friday, a confirmation that it has received the official green light.

"We are also preparing our secondary listing on the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong, bringing our established brand back to China," the CEO of NetEase Ding Lei said in a letter to shareholders on Friday. "I believe that returning to a market that is closer to our roots will further fuel our passion in our business and our users."
