30th National Book Expo opens in Jinan

The 30th National Book Expo opened on July 15 in Jinan, Shandong province, hosted jointly by the National Press and Publication Administration, Shandong provincial government and Jinan municipal government.

With main venue in Jinan's Shandong International Convention and Exhibition Center and two sub-venues in Yantai and Tai'an, the expo covers a total of area of 100,000 square meters.

The expo is joined by over 1,600 publishing organizations and exhibits over 400,000 publications and cultural merchandises.

Running until July 19, the expo offers free admissions to all visitors, along with book vouchers with a total value of five million yuan ($773,900).

Apart from a wide collection of books, it also features more than 600 events including a readers’ conference, the award ceremony for the yearly “top 10 readers”, panel discussions with literary experts, and a reading festival for children.

High-tech methods including VR and live streaming are also adopted to make the expo available to book lovers around the country, who can view the venue and the events in their own homes.
