Xinjiang reports 17 new confirmed COVID-19 cases

Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region reported 17 new confirmed domestically transmitted COVID-19 cases on Sunday, the regional health commission said Monday.

The 17 confirmed cases included 16 in the regional capital Urumqi and one in Kashgar Prefecture, the commission said, adding that the Kashgar case was a person arriving from Urumqi.

The region also registered nine new asymptomatic cases, all in Urumqi, on Sunday.

By Sunday, Xinjiang had 47 confirmed COVID-19 cases, all except one in Urumqi, and 50 asymptomatic cases, as well as 3,016 people still under medical observation.
