Moscow has no comment on information announced by a senior Syrian official on the timing of the Geneva-II international conference, the Russian Foreign Ministry said Thursday.

"Regarding the data announced by Mr. Qadri Jamil (Syrian Deputy Prime Minister), I can neither confirm nor deny that. This is a responsibility of the U.N. Secretary General as that forum has been convened under his auspices," ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich told reporters.

"We will be expecting signals from him officially announcing these dates," he added.

Earlier Thursday, Jamil said that the Geneva-II international conference on Syria is tentatively scheduled for Nov. 23-24.
