Lebanon's Prime Minister Tammam Salam said Wednesday that terrorism is launching on Lebanon random and chaotic wars.

Speaking before students from Lebanese high schools at the Grand Serail, Salam said "the kind of terrorism wars are represented by the kidnapping of 28 soldiers and policemen by the Islamic State (IS) and al-Nusra Front, in an effort to subdue Lebanon and blackmail it through threatening to slaughter our heroes."

He added "this is a crucial matter for us, either we defend our country or we shall all sink."

Salam also affirmed that the war will come to an end in Lebanon when the Lebanese overcome the sectarian sensitivities and elect a new president.

Asked about the presidential election, Salam said all parties shall bear the responsibility of this deadline, adding that "as PM I keep stressing the importance of electing a president to fill the void in such an important post".

Lebanon has been without a president since May 25th after the end of the tenure of former President Michel Suleiman, and the parliament failed to elect a new president because of the sharp division between the political parties.

On Aug. 2, the fundamentalist gunmen of al-Qaeda linked al- Nusra Front and IS engaged in a 5-day battle with the Lebanese army, and when the gunmen withdraw, they kidnapped at least 28 soldiers and policemen, demanding the release of their fellowmen held in Lebanese jails in return for their release.
