At least 10 people were injured in Turkey's Diyarbakir in a police crackdown on a protest to denounce the death of two demonstrators in the eastern province of Hakkari, local Daily News reported Monday.

The protest, organized by the Peace and Democracy Party (BDP), turned violent when some protesters threw stones to the police after the police announced the halt of the protest.

In the clash, at least 10 people including police officers, citizens and journalists were injured by stun grenades.

On Friday, two protestors were killed in a demonstration against the demolition of graves of the outlawed Kurdish Workers' Party (PKK) members in the Yuksekova district of Hakkari.

Tension ran high in many cities in southeast Turkey after the incident. The PKK sympathizers still gathered in Diyarbakir and Hakkari, which resulted in clashes between the police and protestors.
