Chinese basketball has already given us hope-inspiring news over the past several days. The CBA is set to return to television and computer screens across the nation, and several teenagers with big dreams have gripped fans across the globe.

One-armed Zhang Jiacheng from Yunfu, Guangdong province caught the attention of millions of netizens, including NBA megastars Stephen Curry and Damian Lillard, through his brilliant dribbling skills. The 13-year-old also received an invitation from CBA's defending champions Guangdong Southeast Tigers to watch their training.

In Beijing, there is another young boy hoping to fulfil his basketball dream.

Wang Pengbo, 10, recently became an online sensation through sheer will and strong self-discipline.

As his father, a passionate basketball fan, taught Wang to play basketball at an early age.

"He started practicing in school at the age of eight," Wang's father revealed. "After I took him to watch an NBA game in the U.S., he felt motivated to hone his basketball skills. He has a strong belief that he can play basketball at such a level."

"For many kids playing basketball, they dare not verbalize their dreams, fearing that other people will mock them," Wang's father added.

Apart from diligently working out at home and improving his skills in the backyard, Wang resists the lure of sodas and fried foods.

He already has a detailed plan in mind.

Wang hopes to be recruited by the under-12 national team, organized by the Chinese Basketball Association, next year with the aim of becoming the best junior high school basketball player in the nation.

As for his long-term goals, he plans to play in the American senior high school league, then the National Collegiate Athletic Association league, before gradually approaching his ultimate goal.

"My son also has to face the doubt. Someone asked him, 'why are you dreaming so big?' His response? 'What is a dream? It should be your target of being among the best in your field,'" said Wang's father.
