Explosion heard in Syrian capital Damascus: state TV

An explosion was heard in the vicinity of Syria's al-Motahalik al-Janobi, south of Damascus on Sunday morning, Syrian state TV reported.

It also said that casualties were feared and that it is currently suspected to be a terrorist attack.

Local media also said a military checkpoint in the city was targeted and the blast was possibly a bomb explosion.
