Chinese President Xi Jinping for the first time adopted the phrase “Chinese Dream in November 2012 when he was promoted to the General Secretary of Communist Party of China (CPC). According to his speech made at the Political Bureau and Central Committee meeting of CPC at Beijing after taking up the top post, Chinese dream, in essence, is rejuvenation of the great Chinese nation and her people’s quest for national prosperity.

The phrase “Chinese Dream gained fresh currency after Xi became the President of People’s Republic of China in March 2013. In his first address to the nation as head of the state, in Beijing on March 17, Xi used the term “Chinese Dream several times.

For Chinese citizen

First, Chinese Dream belongs to every Chinese citizen and every Chinese citizen should work hard to realize it.

Every Chinese citizen should accumulate positive energy and inspire people to contribute to the realization of Chinese Dream by doing good job in their own positions, in the words of Liu Yunshan, a member of the standing committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC central committee.

Chinese Dream speaks not only to people living on Chinese mainland, but also to those living in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macaw and all around the world. This new phrase has encouraged individual Chinese people from all walks of life and all around the world to contribute to this national goal.

Chinese dream is essentially composed of every fresh vivid individual dream. People’s aspiration for prosperous conditions including good education, medical care, stable work, satisfying income, reliable social security, comfortable homes constitute vital ingredients of the Chinese Dream.

For the China nation

The Second strand of the dream is national rejuvenation. China, now an emerging economic giant and a country with 1.3 billion population, has witnessed difficult days in its history in the eighteen and nineteen centuries.

With ever widening disparity between the rich and the poor and between rich south and poor north and north west, it’s a great challenge for the new leadership to create a balance and sustainable growth. Environmental problems due to massive use of natural resources have also raised a question mark whether China can sustain in future its tremendous economic growth which is happening for the last thirty years.

In this back drop, the new leadership has brought forth the vision of “China Dream in order to unite the nation for a worthy cause and establish China as a powerful and prosperous nation, using peaceful means such as hard work and honesty.

For the whole world

The third strand of the “Chines Dream concerns what might it mean to China’s neighbors and the outside world. A prosperous and peaceful China can play a major role for the stable and peaceful world, as it has been contributing the largest peacekeeping force for the United Nations.

China’s pursuit of its dream of national rejuvenation brings peace and opportunities to the world. That is deeply rooted in the country’s constant commitment to peaceful development.

Chinese Dream is not a call for jingoism and Chinese nationalism at the expense of its neighbors. It is the dream of China, which once suffered invasions and turmoil, to maintain lasting peace.
