Companies seeking to grow in the post-epidemic economy should accelerate the process of digital transformation and expand their businesses online, said Ge Jun, the global CEO of TOJOY Holding Group (TOJOY).
He made the remarks in a recent online interview with Xinhua News as he commented on business and production resumption following the COVID-19 pandemic.
Although the COVID-19 pandemic has severely disrupted life and production around the world, it has also brought opportunities for companies to develop and integrate smart and online systems, he said.
Promoting the digital transformation and online businesses of enterprises is a key step in restoring the market during this "protracted struggle", a crucial element of the future development of enterprises, Ge added.
Ge also shared his thoughts on how these technological upgrades fit into the "Great Sharing Economy" model that TOJOY and other companies and organizations are championing. Ge believes that the traditional understanding of sharing economy models involving sharing consumer goods, such as bicycles or cars, can be expanded to encompass several other possibilities.
According to Ge, the "Great Sharing Economy" includes not only a sharing of material resources but also opportunities, wisdom, creativity, entrepreneurship, human resources, and more.
"Considering the wide range of possibilities the sharing economy presents, we can share resources in ways that we could not have imagined before, just like discovering a new continent," Ge said.
To share information and managerial best practices regarding sharing economy principles, Ge holds a series of live-streaming lectures called "Ge Jun’s Nightly Talk". The program aims to help small and medium-sized enterprises upgrade their operational systems through guidance provided from the experience of some of the world’s top companies in upgrading their own businesses.
"I want to share a positive experience and useful information with our audience. I hope to help these friends uncover the opportunities concealed within the crisis," Ge said.
The newest episode of "Ge Jun’s Nightly Talk" will be broadcast from the Embassy of Armenia in China. "I hope that more global business knowledge can be shared with domestic enterprises throughout China," said Ge.
Ge also shared his thoughts on how enterprises of every size could best prioritize innovation for their operating models, saying that relatively mature enterprises should focus on leveraging digital upgrades and online business to maintain their core competitiveness.
For smaller businesses, Ge suggested they not put all their eggs in one basket by only focusing on one particular upgrade, but to improve their flexibility through cooperation with large platforms.
Ge feels that the abundance of new technologies such as blockchain and 5G can be used on such innovative platforms to enable global cooperation in business, science and tech, medical care, and more. Cooperation on global challenges, Ge said, will lead to win-win outcomes.
Ge's company, TOJOY, is one such platform that is scaling not only domestic companies, but also foreign companies in China and Chinese companies overseas. Established in 1991, TOJOY operates business accelerator and provides incubating, scaling, financing and operational support to its portfolio companies. Originally a domestic enterprise, TOJOY has developed into an online-offline global business platform.
Companies can leverage the TOJOY platform to access capital, resources, and assistance for growth, scaling their business to any size, Ge noted.
"With TOJOY," Ge said, "even an ant can become as big as an elephant."
