APD | Japanese Foreign Minister Motegi to visit Sri Lanka

**COLOMBO, Dec. 10 (APD) ** -- Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi is to visit Sri Lanka and Spain from December 14-17, 2019, the Japanese Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday.

Japan had last month welcomed the peaceful and successful holding of the Presidential election in Sri Lanka and expressed its congratulations on the election of Gotabhaya Rajapaksa as the President of Sri Lanka.

Japan had said that it hopes that, under the leadership of President Rajapakasa, with cooperation from all parties concerned in Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka will achieve on economic development and national reconciliation, and will contribute to regional stability and prosperity as a hub of the Indo-Pacific region.

The Japanese Government had said it will continue to support Sri Lanka’s efforts and further develop the cooperative relationship.
