KATHMANDU, April 19 (APD) - Five Nepali female journalists are all set to climb Mount Everest, the world's highest peak under the banner "First Women Journalists Everest Expedition 2018".

The team of five female journalists Rosha Basnet, Priya Laxmi Karki, Rojita Buddhacharya, Kalpana Maharjan, and Deuralee Chamling will climb the 8,848 meters peak starting next month.

They will conduct live streaming of their journey starting from the base camp to the top. "Under the slogan "Unified Voice for Equity", this time we will be using an ice axe to share the news stories to the general public instead of a pen that we have been using," Basnet told a press conference in Kathmandu before embarking on their journey.

She added that they want to inspire and prove that women are equally capable of doing things as men. One of the motives to climb the world's highest peak was to promote tourism in Nepal besides highlighting social and environmental issues.
