Apple's new-generation iPhone will sell well in China as the rumored bigger screens attracts customers, said analysts on the eve of the new iPhone launch.

Apple will unveil its latest iPhone and a wearable device at an event in Cupertino, California, at 1 a.m. Beijing time Wednesday.

Yan Zhanmeng, an analyst with market research company IDC, said the new iPhone is expected to have 4.7 and 5.5 inch screens, compared with the 4 inch screen on the iPhone 5s. Potential buyers include existing iPhone users and users of other brands with big screens.

"Other brands offer big screens but Apple is conservative in this aspect," said Yan. "The bigger screens are set to spark more buying interest."

In China, Apple's second-largest market, many customers prefer the big screens offered by Samsung and Xiaomi.

More widely available 4G could prompt more users to buy new phones that support the faster service, Meng said.

The product launch could rekindle iPhone fever, said Zhang Yi, chief executive officer of iiMedia Research.

"Beyond Samsung, customers have few choices in the high-end big-screen sector," Zhang said.

To win bigger market shares, China's three telecom companies, China Mobile, China Unicom and China Telecom, are all taking preorders for the new iPhone.

The Beijing branch of China Mobile, China's largest telecom service provider, had received 60,000 preorders by Friday.
