Yiwu Expo : Economy and trade exhibition connects world

The annual international small commodities expo opened in the city of Yiwu, east China’s Zhejiang Province on Friday.

According to the press conference, the expo sets altogether 4,100 standard booths covering 14 sectors. The exhibition hall, divided into 10 different areas, covers an area of 100,000 square meters.

The expo featuring internationalization, professionalization, marketization, branding and informatization, attracts more than 2,200 enterprises from 15 countries and regions including Australia, Japan, Brazil, German, Italy, France and 24 Chinese provinces.

Lead the standard, promote the trade more smoothly

To ensure the trade flows smoothly, promoting standards is necessary. The only way to

turn China from a big trading nation to a trading power is to promote the product standards of Chinese manufacturing industry.

The expo creatively introduced the “standardized elements” by setting standard exhibition areas and holding the first standard exhibition with the theme of “standardization to improve the quality, standardization to keep smooth trade flow.

Thus the organzier set up four exhibition areas. The leading standardization institutions and enterprises will gather here to showcase their advanced products since the 18th national congress of the Communist Party of China. Famous Chinese enterprises including Alibaba, Haohaizi, TD and etc. will show up their achievements during the expo.

The national standard committee

has approved the Yiwu to create the 11th national technology innovation base, the only base in Zhejiang province.

As a platform of non-governmental exchange, Yiwu international commodities fair plays a more significant role in public diplomacy with its rising influence.

On marking the 25th anniversary since China and Belarus established diplomatic relations, Belarus is invited by the fair committee as guest of honor to attend the celebration events including the opening ceremony of National Pavilion of Belarus. The

Belorussian delegation is led by Valeriy Matsel, the Belorussian consul general in Shanghai. Featured activity “Yiwu in diplomats’ eyes” is to be hold during the exhibition. Zambia ambassador and consul generals from nine countries including Poland, Belarus, Serbia, Ukraine, India, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Ethiopia and Thailand as well as 51 representatives including embassy officials and business institutions personnel from 20 countries including the United States, Britain, Spain, Japan, and etc. will attend the fair.

At the news conference on Thursday afternoon, Sheng Qiuping, member of the Standing Committee of Jinhua Municipal People's Congress as well as secretary of

Yiwu municipal Party committee, presented Xie Gaohua, Yiwu’ s former secretary of the CPC, with a lifetime contribution award on developing commodity trading market” for his contribution to lead Yiwu to the global market under his visionary development strategy of ‘Prospering Commerce’ 30 years ago.

The emphasis on market gives unceasing impetus to Yiwu’s transition from a pedlars' market to an international hub of commodities.

The fair will further promote the cooperation between the Zhejiang manufacture and the market of Yiwu by displaying the ‘Made in Zhengjiang’ themed area

which exhibits the refined craftwork of Zhejiang production.
