Japan's factory output rebounded in April at the fastest pace in almost six years. The increase is adding to growing signs of improvement in Japan's economy.

Japan's industrial output rose 4.0 percent in April from the previous month after a revised 1.9 percent decrease in March.

Analysts say the strong output data suggests the economy is off to a strong start in the second quarter as robust overseas demand continues to support growth. Manufacturers surveyed by the ministry expect output to fall 2.5 percent in May and rise 1.8 percent in June.
