Russian Su-30, Su-35 and MiG-31 fighters have escorted two U.S. B-52H strategic bombers over the Sea of Okhotsk, the Russian Defense Ministry said Friday.

The two U.S. aircraft were detected Friday by Russian airspace control equipment over the neutral waters of the Sea of Okhotsk at a considerable distance from the state border, before the Russian jets took off to accompany them, the ministry's Zvezda broadcasting service said.

The Russian fighters prevented the U.S. warplanes from violating the Russian border, Zvezda said.
