Russia has received a positive signal from Pyongyang over top leader Kim Jong Un's Moscow trip for celebrations of the victory in World War II, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Wednesday.

"The first signal is positive," Lavrov told a news conference in response to a question about whether Pyongyang has responded to Russia's invitation.

Russia has invited leaders of the countries that fought against Nazi Germany and its allies in the Great Patriotic War, Russia's term for World War II, to the annual V-Day parade in Moscow on May 9.

On Dec. 22, presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said Pyongyang indicated willingness to accept the invitation.

South Korean President Park Geun-hye has also been invited.
