ISLAMABAD, Dec. 30 (APD) -- Pakistani squash team will participate in the upcoming British Junior Open championship 2018 starting next month in Britain, an official statement said on Saturday.
A seven-member team of Pakistan will feature in the event to be held from January 3 to January 7 at Edgbaston Priory Club in Birmingham, England.
The tournament will hold competitions under five different age categories of both male and female.
Three Pakistani players will compete in category Under-Age 19, one each in Under-Age 19 and 17, while two in Under 13.
Pakistani team comprises Mansoor Zaman, Zeeahan Zeb, Abdul Malik, Uzair Shokat, Asadullah khan, M. Hamza khan and M. Ammad along with head coach Fazal Shah and manager Tahir Sultan.
Pakistani squad will depart for Birmingham on Saturday evening.
The team coach said that a training camp was carried out at Mushaf Squash Complex in capital Islamabad to prepare the players for the tournament.
Pakistan, which dominated the field of squash for four decades during last century, is now desperately searching its lost glory.
Pakistan once produced players like Jahangir Khan who made a world record by remaining unbeaten for the five-and-a-half-year time from 1981 to 1986 and winning 555 matches in a streak. Now, Pakistan's only two players are positioned at 66th and 76th respectively in the top 100 Squash World Rankings.
