A total of 381 Chinese nationals who had been stranded in hurricane-ravaged Dominica landed in Shanghai Pudong International Airport safely on Sunday night after a 24-hour-long journey from Antigua and Barbuda.

The two China Eastern flights, coordinated by China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Commerce and Civil Aviation Administration, flew across 19 countries and set a record for the longest round trip voyage in Chinese rescue operation abroad.

Hurricane Maria ripped through Dominica on September 18, leaving 15 dead and the whole island in mass.

The Chinese nationals were transferred home from Dominica via V C Bird International Airport at St. John's, capital of Antigua and Barbuda.
