Russian Su-27 fighter jets have intercepted a U.S. Navy P-8A Poseidon patrol aircraft and a U.S. Air Force RC-135 reconnaissance plane over the neutral waters of the Black Sea, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Monday.
The U.S. aircraft were continuously tracked by Russian radar at a considerable distance away from the country's border, the ministry said, adding that no violation of the border was recorded.
The flights of the Russian warplanes were carried out in strict compliance with international rules of using airspace over neutral waters, the ministry added.
