At least two killed after car hit pedestrians in Germany

At least two people were killed on Tuesday after a car drove into a pedestrian zone in the southwestern German city of Trier, according to police.

"We have arrested one person, one vehicle has been secured. Two people have died, according to preliminary indications. Please continue to avoid the downtown area," police said on Twitter.

Earlier, the police force said several people were also injured. Some local media are reporting at least 10 wounded.

The cause of the incident is not immediately clear.
