Indonesia would like to act as a bridge between China and the United States, visiting Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Pandjaitan told Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Beijing on Thursday.

During their meeting, Wang said China and Indonesia are natural partners and China has always attached great importance to the bilateral relationship.

He also said relations between the two countries are in good place to advance to an even higher level.

Pandjaitan echoed that comment, saying that Indonesia values its ties with China and would contribute more to the Belt and Road Initiative.

Pandjaitan had said prior to the trip to China that both countries have already been over their difficult past and Indonesia is ready to join China in the "Asian Century," when the region would experience unprecedented growth.
