APD | Indian External Affairs Minister visits China

New Delhi, Aug.13,(APD) - Jaishankar, the external affairs minister of India began his two-day visit to China on Sunday as he reached Beijing.

He is scheduled to meet his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi and expected to discuss the new developments in Jammu and Kashmir during the meeting.

Another region, Ladakh where there is a boundary dispute between India and China is also expected to be discussed during the visit.

The two ministers will finalise the details of President Xi Jinping’s coming visit to India to attend the second informal summit with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Earlier the first informal summit was conducted in April 2018 in Wuhan in China.

This visit would be Jaishankar’s first visit to China after assuming the post of the external affairs minister of India.

During the external affairs minister’s visit, four memorandums of understanding are also expected to be signed.

Jaishankar and Wang are expected to hold a media interaction on Monday evening and discuss various issues of bilateral concern ranging from technology transfer and consequences of trade war on the two countries.
