Three police officers and one militant were killed Tuesday night in the province of Tizi Ouzou, 100 km east of Algiers, following a terrorist attack, local media reported Wednesday.
Citing a security source, TSA news website reported that the terror attack occurred at around 20:00 (1900 GMT), just before the breaking of the fast, after a police patrol had been surprised by gunshots of militants near the hospital of Azzefoune locality, about 60 km northeast of Tizi Ouzou.
A fire clash erupted, and three police officials and one militant were left dead.
The militants managed to escape from the area and headed to an unknown destination.
And a few militants affiliating to al-Qaida in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) are still taking refuge in the woods located in Boumerdes, Tizi Ouzou and Bouira, three adjacent provinces in the eastern part of Algeria.
