China will deal with economic and trade issues related to the DPRK to contribute to the stability and denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula, Ministry of Commerce spokesman Gao Feng said Thursday.

Gao made the remarks in response to a question about the possibility of China imposing an oil embargo on its neighbor.

He said the Chinese government has always followed UN resolutions related to the DPRK and fulfilled its international obligations.

The US ambassador to the UN, Nikki Haley, has pushed for a vote on a draft UN resolution to impose new sanctions on Pyongyang, banning its exports of key supplies including oil and textiles in response to the country’s sixth nuclear test, Reuters reported.
