A private jet crashed on Thursday evening in Istanbul's Ataturk Airport, leaving all the four aboard injured, the Istanbul governor said.
The pilot requested permission for an emergency landing after takeoff from the airport and a fire erupted due to friction in the landing process, Governor Vasip Sahin said in a televised statement.
The governor said the four onboard, all Turkish citizens, were injured but in stable condition. There is "no loss of life," he said, as the pilot was said to be killed in the accident.
According to the private Dogan news agency, the pilot informed the tower about a problem with the landing gear and the airport has returned to normal after a brief closure to air traffic following the mishap.
