China's independently developed Y-20 military transport aircraft will be showcased for the first time at an international airshow in Europe, a Chinese air force spokesperson said on Monday.

The Y-20 transport aircraft have flown to various destinations in Asia, Africa, Europe and Oceania in recent years, delivering COVID-19 vaccines overseas and bringing humanitarian aid to countries such as Tonga and Afghanistan, Senior Colonel Shen Jinke, a spokesperson for the People's Liberation Army (PLA) Air Force, told reporters at an air force open day event in Changchun City, northeast China's Jilin Province.

During the event, the large transport aircraft did aerobatic maneuvers for the public, showing the aircraft's excellent performance.

A strategic and essential part of the PLA Air Force, the Y-20 transport aircraft has a long-range and a high payload. It is mainly used in strategic and tactical military transportation, airborne operations, equipment and materials airdropping and non-war military operations.
