U.S. President Donald Trump will pay a visit to Pakistan soon, Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said on Wednesday, hours after Trump and Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan met in Davos on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum.

"Trump has assured us that he would soon pay a visit to Pakistan," said Qureshi in a statement without giving the exact date.

Qureshi said Khan took up several important issues with Trump and also urged him to improve the U.S. travel advisories for Pakistan.

The United States kept issuing advisories to its nationals about Pakistan, usually asking them to avoid traveling to the country in view of the security situation.

On Jan. 3, the U.S. embassy in Islamabad restricted travel by U.S. government employees in Pakistan, considering "possible reactions to recent events in Iraq" after a targeted drone attack by the United States near Baghdad International Airport which killed Iranian commander Qassem Soleimani.

Qureshi said the prime minister also raised the issue about the grey list of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) and apprised him of Pakistan's efforts and sought his support.

Pakistan was placed on the grey list by the FATF in June 2018 due to what was claimed "strategic deficiencies" in anti-money laundering and combating financing of terrorism.

The Foreign Ministry of Pakistan said that Khan and Trump agreed to further strengthen the bilateral relationship especially with respect to enhancing trade and investments.

The two sides exchanged views regarding the Afghan peace and reconciliation process, a statement issued late Tuesday said.
