Aircraft arrives in Spanish city with medical equipment from China

An A321/200 Airbus belonging to the Spanish airline Galistair arrived at the airport of Ciudad Real on Monday morning with a cargo of 2 million face masks from China to help fight the coronavirus epidemic.

The "Flynews" website reported that the flight was the first of several which are planned for the coming days and weeks with the aim of establishing a "sanitary corridor" between Ciudad Real and the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou.

The flight was coordinated by the Federation of Pharmaceutical Distributors (FEDIFAR), an organization that brings together the pharmaceutical companies which operate in Spain. FEDIFAR aims to import 700 cubic meters of material to help supply pharmacies throughout Spain.

The Airbus which made the inaugural flight took off from Ciudad Real on May 15.
