Kyushu Shinkansen Line operations partly resumed

text

Kyushu Railway Co. (JR Kyushu) on April 20 resumed operations on a section of the Kyushu Shinkansen Line, which had been entirely suspended since the night of April 14 due to earthquakes that struck Kumamoto and surrounding prefectures.

The restarted bullet train section connects Shin-Minamata Station in Kumamoto Prefecture and Kagoshima-Chuo Station in Kagoshima Prefecture.

Sixteen runs in both directions are planned under an emergency schedule.

It is not known when JR Kyushu can resume operations on the remaining northern portion from Shin-Minamata Station to Hakata Station in Fukuoka.

The entire Kyushu Shinkansen Line spans 289 kilometers.
