In Vietnam, owners of Galaxy Note 7, the latest smartphone produced by South Korean tech giant Samsung Electronics, are able to return the phones for a refund.

Samsung Vietnam has notified smartphone retailers in Vietnam that 100 percent of the money will be refunded to owners of Galaxy Note 7, who will also receive a coupon worth 1.5 million Vietnamese dong (67 U.S. dollars) for buying Samsung products, daily newspaper Thanh Nien (Young People) reported on Wednesday. This policy will be adopted from Oct. 18 to Nov. 18.

"For the benefit of consumers' safety, we stopped sales and exchanges of the Galaxy Note 7 and have consequently decided to stop production," Samsung announced.

Galaxy Note 7 made its debut in August with rave reviews, but Samsung stopped global sales of the phones two weeks later as dozens of the devices catching fire were found and caused property damage and injuries.

The company began to exchange older models with new ones later last month, but fire cases were reported even with the new phones and replacement devices.
