The body of Sydney hostage siege gunman Man Haron Monis was released by the New South Wales Coroner on Monday after his autopsy was completed.

But he faces a "destitute funeral", carried out by the state as Muslim funeral directors have declared his body doesn't deserve any care after his death following the 16 hour siege which ended with him killing two people.

Meanwhile, hundreds of people cheered a Muslim bride over the weekend when she appeared in her wedding dress and hijab to lay a wreath of flowers at the massive floral memorial which has spontaneously grown outside the Lindt Cafe in Martin Place, where the siege took place.

News.com.au reported Manal Kassem, 23, had long planned to have her wedding photos taken in the city's CBD, but had second thoughts as she, like the gunman, was a Muslim.

But she went ahead, and was cheered by the crowd.
