Diplomatic sources at the Iranian Foreign Ministry on Thursday dismissed media reports on the Russian president's visit to Tehran in August to discuss military and nuclear deals with his Iranian counterpart, semi-official Fars news agency reported.

"At present, the issue of Russian President Putin's visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran is not on agenda," an informed source told Fars.

"According to the preliminary agreements, the first meeting between the Iranian and Russian presidents is due to be held on the sidelines of the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization ( SCO) summit in Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan) in September," the source told Fars on the condition of anonymity.

On Wednesday, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Abbas Araqchi also said "I do not confirm the reports regarding Putin's visit to Tehran."

On Tuesday, Western media reported that Russian president will visit Iran in August to discuss Tehran's nuclear program as well as arms sales to the country.
