Dance and Song of the Earth performed by National Ballet of China

Dance and Song of the Earth will be performed at Beijing Tianqiao Theatre from May 12 to 14. The ballet is exclusively choreographed for National Ballet of China by John Neumeier, who is the director and chief choreographer of Hamburg Ballet.

Combined with ancient Chinese poem, melodious opera and appealing modern Ballet, the ballet is to seek their internal relations of culture in the name of the earth.

The whole performance showed Chinese cultural elements and images. In accompany with free movement and Chinese style clothes, the ballet dancer is like drawing a landscape painting.

The ballet includes "Song of the Earth" and "Spring and Fall". The first part applies Gustav Mahler’s piano solo as soundtracks, and focuses on the theme of humanism. The second part expresses the harmonious relationship between man and woman.

Before then, at the invitation of the National Ballet of China, John Neumeier brought his two new works "Song of the Earth" and "Spring and Fall" to China. And he created the modern ballet Dance and Song of the Earth with cooperation of artists from the National Ballet of China.

John Neumeier said, the ballet is unique, and it is a fun thing to bring the work that inspired by ancient Chinese poems back to China.
