APD | India: One of the coldest Decembers since 1901 in Delhi

NEW DELHI, Dec. 27 (APD)-- The Indian Meteorological Department said on Thursday, December this year in Delhi is the second coldest since 1901.

“The mean maximum temperature for December was less than 20 degrees Celsius only in 1919, 1929, 1961 and 1997,” an official from the India Meteorological Department informed.

The mean maximum temperature (MMT), which was 19.85 degrees Celsius in Delhi till Thursday is expected to drop to 19.15 degrees Celsius by December 31.

December 1997 recorded the lowest MMT at 17.3 degrees Celsius, and December 2019 is expected to be the second coldest in Delhi.

According to the forecast severe cold conditions would exist till December 29, 2019. Early next year, the conditions are expected to improve.
