Cleome, or the spider flower, is striking and eye-catching. It's native to South America but can now be found in many gardens around the world. The plant is known for the long, thin stamens that protrude from the flower and resemble spider legs. Spider flowers grow best in well-drained soil. Hummingbirds, butterflies, bees and other pollinating insects love the plant for its rich nectar.

Here are some photos of spider flowers taken at the 10th China Flower Expo, which is being held on Chongming Island, Shanghai, from May 21 to July 2.
