The remarkable leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC) is embodied in China's success in controlling the COVID-19 pandemic, an unknown enemy of the mankind, in a short span of time, said Ahmad Jawad, central secretary on information of Pakistan's ruling party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
Facing every challenge and every threat, it's always the leaders who become an important factor because the leaders will not only secure their people but also guide and lead the people to overcome the challenge and threat, Jawad told Xinhua in a recent interview, commending the CPC's "unique leadership" in fighting the pandemic.
He said the decisions taken timely and correctly by the CPC served as the basis of China's success in controlling the spread of the disease.
"There may be many other countries who have done well against the coronavirus, but why and how China gets full marks and would be considered as the leader against this pandemic is because of the one fact that it was China that faced this pandemic before any other country. So there was no lesson. There was nothing to learn from anywhere how to fight against this pandemic," Jawad said.
China's experience including concepts, strategies and measures, in curbing the pandemic has become a model and a case of guidance to the rest of the world, he said, adding that the Chinese government has been very open, transparent, and generous in sharing information on COVID-19 and providing help and support to other countries which are facing the challenge of the pandemic.
Talking about the COVID-19 outbreak in Pakistan, Jawad said the pandemic poses a big threat to the country's health system and economic stability, while the medical supplies including protective equipment and medicine timely provided by China and the teams of Chinese experts have greatly enhanced Pakistan's capability to fight against the pandemic.
"Pakistan is very grateful to China's help and even now, we are constantly being aided and supported by China in fighting COVID-19," he said.
"China has proved to the world that even against global threats like a pandemic, China can come out as a leader and can show the world that how a pandemic, how this challenge and this threat can be taken care," he said.
The improvement of infrastructure, transportation system, healthcare system, and living standards of the people in China impressed Jawad every time when he paid a visit to China. He said it is a miracle that China has lifted over 90 million people out of poverty since the end of 2012.
"The world is faced with the biggest challenge of poverty, and China has done what the world needs," he said.
Jawad said it is the CPC that is behind the success of China's poverty alleviation career, and the leadership of the CPC has been very consistent in the last decades to develop the country and enable the Chinese people to live a better life.
"The CPC has gone to the most remote areas, offering the people opportunities and providing good environment for entrepreneurship. I would say that entrepreneurship is one real engine behind the strong economy and behind bringing people out of poverty," he added.
Both the fighting against COVID-19 and the poverty alleviation, he said, are the reflection of the CPC's original aspiration and mission to seek happiness for the Chinese people and strive for national rejuvenation.
He said China has "shown the world that things can be done in a very short time," and developing countries around the globe "must study the model of the CPC and how this model of a political party has converted into a national system of governance, politics, and development. And the result is in front of the whole world."
With regard to the CPC's comprehensively strengthening of party discipline, he said one of the reasons of all the successes like political and economic stability, getting people out of poverty, becoming the second largest economy in the world, and being able to fight against the pandemic is that China has fought corruption in the country. "The corruption is the root cause of every bad governance and deficiency in the system."
With an iron hand, the CPC has been very successful in striking corruption, said Jawad, adding that Pakistan has been hit hard by corruption in the last decades and the PTI, as the ruling party, should learn from the model of the CPC in fighting corruption and improving the governance system.
