**COLOMBO, March 12 (APD) ** -- The Indian community in Sri Lanka celebrated the Holi festival at the Mount Lavinia Hotel beach, just outside Colombo on Saturday. Holi, a festive day filled with color, is popular in India and marks the end of winter and the abundance of the upcoming spring harvest season.

Participants at the Sri Lankan festival spent the day smearing colored powder all over each other’s faces and having a blast, and of course dancing under water sprinklers.

The event was held at the Mount Lavinia Hotel in association with the Colombo Indian expat community.
