One dead, 12 injured in Beijing knife attack

Beijing police on Sunday confirmed that a knife attack in a shopping mall has left one woman dead and 12 others injured, according to a statement on its official Weibo account.

The attack happened at around 1:00 p.m. BJT in the Joy City shopping mall in Xidan, a commercial area in downtown Beijing.

A 35-year-old man was arrested after allegedly attacking people to "vent personal grievances," the statement said.

An investigation is underway.
