Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has criticized the diplomatic row surrounding Qatar, labeling the decision by some Arab nations to sever diplomatic ties with the Gulf state as “inhumane” and a “death sentence”.

In a bid to halt the crisis from spiraling further, Kuwait’s leaders are scrambling to find common ground between all parties.

Since Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Oman and the United Arab Emirates blocked land, sea and air access after accusing Qatar's government of backing terrorism, Kuwait’s leader Sheikh Sabah has shuttled between Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE trying to find common negotiating ground.

According to Stephanie Freid, so far there is no indication of a shift towards de-escalating regional tensions.
