Northwest China's Shaanxi Province reported its first imported COVID-19 case on Monday, saying a passenger from Indonesia is receiving isolated treatment in the provincial capital of Xi'an.
The provincial health commission said Tuesday that a total of 79 people have been traced to have had close contact with the confirmed patient.
The Chinese passenger took flight KA896 arriving at the Shanghai Pudong International Airport on March 13 and checked into a local hotel. He took flight MU2162 from the Pudong airport to Xi'an on March 14, declaring physical discomfort and measured with a fever at the Xi'an Xianyang International Airport.
He was given a nucleic acid test by the Xi'an municipal center for disease prevention and control on Sunday, which shows that the serological IgM and IgG antibodies are negative. Another test given on Monday returned results of him being positive of the coronavirus infection.
The provincial authorities ordered that from Tuesday, all people, including Chinese citizens and foreign nationals, who enter the province from overseas areas should fill in health declaration forms and are subject to quarantine for 14 days upon entering the province.
